STUDENT SPOTLIGHT - Stephanie Oakes

Stephanie Oakes

Stephanie Oakes Chosen Valedictorian

Stephanie Oakes was chosen as Upper Canada School Board Eastern Region Valedictorian. Stephanie's spirit, dedication, and academic effort make her an excellent role model for adults wishing to further their education.  Life circumstances and a diagnosis of diabetes made finishing high school earlier in her life difficult. As a young woman, when her toddler was able to attend daycare, and her diabetes was a bit more managed, she made the positive decision to register with TR Leger / Iohahi:io. She completed her diploma requirements in December 2016 with above average marks, and in January, began a General Arts and Science, Pre-Archaeology college program.

In class, her positive attitude and willingness to help others were evident from day one! When learning new things, she was never afraid of a challenge, and was always the first to offer support and assistance to others.  Respectful, caring, co-operative, determined, helpful, committed, and family-oriented, Stephanie is also very proud of her Indigenous heritage.  Congratulations, Stephanie!

Your family, your community, your classmates, and your teachers are inspired by your success.
